National conference on healthy living and fitness in Samarkand

On 8 October 2024 the seminar “Key principles of healthy living and disease prevention” was held in Samarkand as part of the national conference “Healthy Lifestyle and Fitness of Uzbekistan”.

The seminar covered the key principles of building a healthy lifestyle, maintaining health and preventing chronic non-communicable diseases.

It examined modern approaches to preventing cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes and obesity, the role of balanced nutrition and regular physical activity, and the effect of sleep quality, stress and emotional state on the body.

Particular attention was paid to practical advice on healthy eating: increasing the intake of vegetables, fruit, wholegrain foods and dietary fibre, and limiting sugar, salt, processed meat and trans fats. Participants learned about weight management, recommendations on physical activity and ways of reducing everyday stress.

Separate sessions addressed circadian rhythms, sleep hygiene, emotional intelligence and self-help techniques for anxiety and acute stress. Digital tools for assessing body mass index and the risk of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease were also presented.

The main aim of the seminar is to raise awareness of the principles of healthy living and to build practical skills that help maintain health.
